free speech

“[D]issent, by its very nature, involves the right to be offensive.”

America’s commitment to free speech is under attack. From universities shutting down controversial speakers to cultural changes disfavoring dissent, the First Amendment needs protection. We believe that the strength of civil society is best summed up by the First Amendment’s radical promise to protect free speech and association. This is the genius of America—people sharing their views, arguing about the political process, and peacefully resolving their concerns. But today, veritable cottage industries have sprung up dedicated to censoring those with opposing viewpoints or shutting down political opponents.

You enjoy the right to speak about issues you care about however you would like to. Bureaucratic rules limiting controversial speech or putting limits on how one elects to express themselves simply fail when measured against the First Amendment.

To be clear: an open and unfettered exchange of ideas is what the Founders had in mind when drafting the First Amendment.

It is that commitment we are here to defend.
